What is Bar G, and where are you based?
Bar G is a western hat shop rooted in Arizona heritage and the spirit of Goldfield Ghost Town. We make and curate felt and straw western hats for everyday wear, special occasions, and the long haul—ready-to-wear and custom. What’s the difference between ready-to-wear and Customize Your Hat?
Ready-to-wear hats are finished pieces you can choose and wear as they are—shaped, sized, and ready for the trail or the town. Customize Your Hat lets you shape the crown and brim, choose materials and trim, and build something that fits your hand and your life. Ready-to-wear is for when you know what you want now; custom is for when you want it made yours.
How do I find my hat size?
Measure the circumference of your head about a finger’s width above your ears and across the mid-forehead—where a hat naturally sits. Use a soft tape, keep it snug but not tight, and note the measurement in inches. If you’re between sizes, we usually lean toward the larger and refine with fit and shaping. Unsure? What materials do you use, and how should I care for them?
We work primarily with felt and straw, each with its own character and care. Felt holds shape beautifully and prefers a cool, dry place away from prolonged heat and moisture—brush gently with a soft hat brush when dust settles. Straw breathes well in warm weather: keep it dry, avoid crushing the crown, and store it so the brim isn’t bent out of line. When in doubt, less force and more patience usually serve the hat best.
How long does shipping and processing take?
Orders ship from the United States. Free shipping on orders $99+; orders under $99 ship for $12.95. Standard orders typically process in 1–5 business days. Custom, handmade, and made-to-order pieces typically process in 5–21 business days because they’re built or finished by hand. You’ll see timing cues at checkout and in order updates where we have them.
What is your returns and exchanges policy?
Non-custom items may be returned within 14 days. Damage claims must be made within 48 hours of delivery. Orders can be canceled within 4 hours of placing. Custom, personalized, or made-to-order hats are final sale once production begins. If something’s unclear, write admin@barghatshop.com and we’ll help you sort it out honestly.
How long does a custom or Customize Your Hat order take?
Custom and Customize Your Hat work is handmade or hand-finished, so timelines are longer than grab-and-go ready-to-wear—typically about 5–21 business days to process, depending on materials, shaping, and what’s already on the bench. We’ll share an expected range when you place or confirm the order. Book a design session on our Build a Custom Hat page; in-person sessions are at the shop in Goldfield Ghost Town.
Do you offer wholesale, and can I visit you in Goldfield?
We welcome conversations about wholesale and stockist partnerships that fit the Bar G world. Can you help with hat shaping and fit?
Yes. A western hat should sit comfortably, clear the ears, and hold its line without fighting you. Light steam, careful hand pressure, and knowing where the crown and brim want to move go a long way. For custom orders, shaping is part of how we finish the piece. For a ready-to-wear hat that needs a nudge, email us with what you’re feeling and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Do you ship internationally?
We ship from the United States. International orders are possible in many cases, but duties, transit times, and carrier options vary by country. If you’re ordering from outside the U.S., contact admin@barghatshop.com with your destination and what you’d like—we’ll share what’s realistic before you buy.
I’m between sizes or styles—how should I choose?
For size, when you’re close between two, the larger size often gives room to settle and shape without pinching. For style—felt vs. straw, crown height, brim width—think where you’ll wear it most: heat and dust lean one way; cooler seasons and dressier evenings another. Do you sell gift cards?
When gift cards are offered in the shop, they’re a good way to let someone choose their own Bar G—ready-to-wear or toward a custom build. Availability can change; look for gift cards in the store or ask us at admin@barghatshop.com if you don’t see them listed.
